Task 1 – I think the reason why music press remains so popular is because everyone is interested in music whether its rock, classical or pop. People all like music and they all want to know what’s going on with their favourite artist or band. As we have grown so have ways of presenting information people now use the internet to find out information where as others like to believe that its un reliable and still want to buy music magazines. I believe the reason that it remains so popular is the fact that everyone enjoys music. 6/15 Task 2 - I agree that most music magazines are mostly targeted and read by men besides ‘top of the pops’ magazine this only has 17% male readership and this maybe because top of the pops magazine is mostly pink has boy band posters, lots of hearts and has ‘101 fashion tips’ which mostly applies to women where as NME magazine is very male based with a 75% readership of men. This is mostly because of the dark colours, they way most of the magazines use women as an object on the front for example lady gaga on the front of one of the magazines painted in gold with no clothes on and this may be offensive to women but men like this and the magazine also involves football, aftershave, golf etc although there is a magazine that mostly is 50% women and 50% men this is Q magazine has 50/50 readership because it caters for both adding pop bands and rock bands into one magazine this magazine works very well at getting both male and female attention and creates a great magazine. 10/15 Task 3 – Hey! I hear your looking for a new top music magazine? Well you’re talking to the write person because I have the most perfect magazine idea to give to you! I would like to create a magazine based on music festivals? I mean who wouldn’t love that? My magazine would be made purely for sixth formers or uni students aged 16+ male and female magazine. You don’t get many of them nowadays! The magazine would be called ‘VOLUME’ this title is great because all that any teenager wants is their music full blast!! And the slogan/catch phrase would be of course ‘turn up the music!’ because all you want to hear is your favourite music loud and clear at festivals or even at home! I mean come on perfect or what? The house colours of my magazine would be mostly be red, black and white to give the ‘rock’ theme and older look to the magazine. But also adding in some bright bold colours to make some parts stand out! Evert magazine needs a regular feature otherwise its just pointless! So my regular feature is to have a competition winning four free tickets to any festival of the winners choice just by answering one simple question! How easy? This will attract many readers because everyone love going to festivals. Its just most 16+ are saving for a car or uni so this is a great opportunity to save atleast 200pounds worth it! Epic id say! This will appeal in many ways and give the magazine a great positive effect. My magazine will appeal to my target audience because its unqie and the magazine is connected with twitter and facebook which most 16+ use their iphones or blackberries or android. Also this is a great way to advertise new bands and festivals that are only just becoming known to the teenage generation! Awesome! I know well turn up the music because im out! 11/15

Task 3. Mock Mock. I hear your looking for a new top magazine. Well you’ve spoke to the right person. Most teenage students are only looking to party after all the studying right? Well we all know music festivals is the place to let out all the energy. I have created a magazine purely based on festival lovers and newbie’s planning on going. My magazine has all the gossip about back stage work, what’s happened in the live performances and on articles on how to survive your first ever festival. My magazine house colours will be mostly red and black. This shows the maturity of the magazine and how its not a pop magazine because normally pop bands are bright blue, pinks etc. also they are very bold colours that mix very well aswell my magazine is a mixed gender magazine. I mean best of both right? One of my regular features in my magazine will be answering all kinds of questions like how do you get early entrance? Cheapest tickets? What to wear? What to pack? How much to pack? All the questions all people worry about before leaving for music festivals. People can send in their questions via email,facebook,twitter blog and the old fashioned way letters! I think this will be very helpful for all people even the parents getting ready to pack them off for a long weekend, they will be more than delighted to know. My magazine will not be the most popular magazine. It might not be the biggest magazine but I know that it will be someone’s favourite magazine. Besides the magazine being very helpful to people it is also very entertaining for example giving you links to download all the videos or songs from the festivals or even last year’s videos. We will have specials every week on different band interviews on how they’re experience at the festivals are and what they got up to besides performing. I mean who wouldn’t want to know what they’re favourite bands get up to? I know I would. Every week I would have tickets available for people to win by answering simple questions or just clicking like on our facebook page because we know some people may love to go to these festivals but can’t afford it at the moment still being a student and all.. So don’t just turn over the page turn up the volume!
